Biography
I have worked exclusively in the field of commercial real estate for over 29 years. During this period of time, I have completed over 550 transactions representing 4.5M square feet of space and have been involved with the development, acquisition, or disposition of over 2.5M square feet of space. I have a solid background in brokerage, property management, construction management, development, and acquisition. Now, I oversee a team of 7 industry professionals who work in the areas of industrial, office, retail, land, and investment. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN in 1992. While in college in the fall and winter of 1991, I participated in a study abroad program in Greece, Turkey, Italy, and travelled parts of Europe by train. After school, and prior to working in the field of commercial real estate, I worked in sales and technical sales with 2 local companies. I began my commercial real estate career with Steiner Development, Inc. in 1996 as Property Manager for a portfolio of 1.5M square feet with over 100 tenants. In 1999, I became a Sales Associate responsible for business development, marketing and leasing a 2.5M square foot real estate portfolio, and 3rd party sales/leasing/brokerage. Then in early 2005, I became Director – Business Development prior to leaving and starting my own venture, Summerhill Commercial Real Estate, LLC in March of 2006. I built Summerhill Commercial Real Estate from managing a 2 building portfolio in 2006 to managing a 9 building portfolio in 2017 before acquiring Steiner Development, Inc. on January 2, 2018, at which point Summerhill’s property management portfolio grew to 35 buildings. Since the acquisition, Summerhill’s managed portfolio has grown from 35 buildings to 60 buildings. In addition to working with the team to provide premier property management services and expertise to Summerhill’s clients, I enjoy doing brokerage, leasing, and light construction, both within the managed property portfolio and on a 3rd party basis. I like the daily challenges of the job and working with my team and learning something new everyday and continually build on my experience. I have a passion for being in the trenches in all aspects of the business with my team. I attained the designation of CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) in August 2008. I am also a member of MNCAR, MAAR, & NAIOP. I served as a board member of MNCAR from early 2014 through 2018. Summerhill now consists of 1 Principal/Broker, 2 Broker/Agents, 2 Property Manager/Agents, 2 Accounting Professionals, 1 Accounting Support and 1 Marketing Professional. Summerhill specializes in the industrial, office, and retail sectors of commercial real estate, among others, throughout the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN. Summerhill’s services include tenant and buyer representation, property management, property sales, property leasing, and brokerage, construction, investment and acquisition, development, and real estate advisement. In my time off, I enjoy spending time with his family, reading, travel, current events, hiking, watching shows, fitness, skiing, running, and biking. I completed a half marathon in 2012 (Lola’s Lakehouse Half Marathon in Waconia), the 20-mile Bear Water Run in White Bear Lake in 2012, and the Twin Cities Marathon in 2013.
